I mentioned offhand we saw a rattle snake on one of our hikes.
Of course, the kids, seeing the warnings of all these dangerous animals, were convinced we'd see all of them (bears, mountain lions, etc.)
So we started on a hike one day and BM stops to exclaim- "Rattle snake." I spotted the dude but wasn't too wary until my dad said, "IT actually is, it's a rattle snake." So we proceeded past it quite cautiously. IT was taking a nap with his head awfully close to the trail, if not on it.
Just had to share though. Don't look if you don't like snakes!
Thankfully BM spotted it (& we didn't step too close to it) and it was in a good mood as long as we kept our distance.
That was our adventure.
Thankfully, it ended well...
& of course my dad had to snap some pics. He has an incredible zoom - trust me - we didn't get very close.

Yeah, I can't say I really knew what we were getting into. My dad assured us it was okay and went past first. & grabbed a big rock in case. IT was gone soon after.
If it was just me, I'd turn around - for sure. I had to have some faith my dad knew what he was talking about. I am not sure I would have thought much of it or wanted to get close enough to see if it was a rattle snake either. I wouldn't have known from the head. & I wouldn't have wanted to get close enough to look at it's tail... So if it was just us, we may have walked past dumbly.
I admit I did not expect to come across a snake so big. Was an adventure!!!

I think I have seen snake warnings around here though. I think we learned to be careful.
