LOL.
Actually we had a great time. The baby was pretty cute - just kept sating "ooooh" in a really wowed voice and looking at us strangely like why we are walking around, knocking on doors, dressed up weird, and saying "trick or treat"??? The older one was cute and enjoyed it immensely. I can't even remember all the cute stuff he said, but he was dressed as Winnie the Pooh. At one house the guy asked if he preferred chocolate or skittles. & then he added - you probably prefer honey! As we walked away I Said something about how pooh bears really love honey and he exclaimed that "Ryans love chocolate!!!!" LOL. I also didn't tell him when we got home and I pointed to our house and exclaimed how cool this particular house looked - we better go check it out. The look on his face when daddy answered the door was priceless - hehe. Got him! Who knew there was an advantage to living in a development with look-alike houses, ahhhh.
I almost grabbed some halloween plastic candy carrier thingies - my brain is dead - can't think of a better description - at the dollar store yesterday, but figured, eh, a pillowcase will do. not too smart, the thing was HEAVY and he couldn't really carry it without dragging it along the ground. But when ever we went up to a door he would dive his head in the pillowcase trying to see what he got which prompted people to give him more candy for some reason - LOL. He did quite well. Lots of chocolate too - the good stuff.
There were 2 weird parts about halloween this year. well, 3. I was driving home around 5:30 and I Saw more people out than I probably ever had. I am looking at the time thinking "5:30???" Wasn't even dark yet. LOL. I guess it was just a sign of the times because this year was CRAZY. My dh bought maybe 1 bag of candy because we never get any trick or treaters. LAst year I Would be surprised if we had 10. ??? But tonight the streets were just filled with kids. OVerall I Think it was GREAT. Just was very surprising. Dh stayed home with the baby for the most part because dh as not feeling well. So as we came home I asked if we had enough candy because I saw a big crowd of teenagers not far behind us. We didn't have much left but he thought to look through the stash and get rid of everything that the kids couldn't/shouldn't eat. So in the end we recycled a good chunk as well, worked out perfectly when the *mob* came by. Good thinking dh. Got rid of the crappy stuff - LOL.
Oh yeah the other weird thing was everyone was out networking. Got some business cards and flyers - LOL. Someone got that bright idea - no wonder everyone was out. PErsonal gain - LOL.
Oh yeah - and the BEST costume of the night was the first group to come to our door - some teens dressed as Flava Flav and Delishis. Was too funny... & if you know what that means you have the same vice that I do - watching bad reality t.v.
Overall a frugal halloween. Kids wore hand-me-downs so costumes cost 0. Dh coupon hunted and got our candy for a buck or 2. Even the halloween party we went to over the weekend, I offered to bring PBJ sandwhiches because they were cheap and already had all the fixings on hand. A cheap cheap holiday this year.
I was thinking aloud that maybe the Baby would be Pooh next year and ds exclaimed that he wanted to be Tigger. I Am tempted to keep an eye out for post-halloween sale and grab a Tigger outfit for him. worst case he doesn't wear it and I can sell it next year???? Hmmmm. I'll think about it. I Was wary when he told me he wanted to be Pooh Bear AGAIN this year - I thought there might be last minute chaos and mind-changing. But he really meant it... Then again 1 year is a LONG time to change his mind. I guess it depends how good a deal I Can find in the meantime...
Halloween was weird...
