Insurance Going Down...

June 21st, 2007 at 08:50 pm

Woohoo.

Was checking online banking and saw our latest car insurance bill is due next month. BUT the sweet thing is that it went down from $390 to $320, for 6 months. WOW!!!! Excited.

Then again we stil have a long ways to go. We were shocked by car insurance rates when we moved here, they about doubled. & I see why - people here are even worse drivers than in the BIG city we used to live in... I think dh was paying about $500/year when we moved, for insurance, and it about doubled. So we are down to $640/year for a much newer car (probably $600 without the comprehensive insurance) so we are getting there. No collission on that car. Mine has been running around $1100/year for full coverage so will be interesting to see in a few months - I am crossing my fingers that mine goes down too. Our premiuns were so low back home with multiple line discount, perfect driving records, loyalty (been a customer since I was 16), etc. State Farm is not in general the cheapest insurer, but for these reasons it is the best deal for us. We shop around every so often, but all the insurers have horrible rates up here in our zip code.

I was tempted to move $140 out of our short-term savings (for the next year) accordingly, but I realized I better hold tight and see how our home insurance pans out in December. Maybe that one will go up, who knows. WIll hold tight...

Here's to more decreasing bills!

Since we just got that rebate check on his car I wonder if they sent it when they were preparing the bill - reviewing premiums, etc. I won't get my car's insurance bill for another 2 months so we may have to wait a bit for mine. But I'm ready for my rebate & my lower bill too - hehe. Wink
