Credit Card Question

June 5th, 2012 at 03:19 pm

I just paid off $2500 Chase bill and about $1300 on regular credit card (furniture).

I still need to pay off the $2500 citi next payday.

ANYWAY...

Whenever I have a return after the end of the month, I just pay it. I am uber conservative, don't want to pay a cent of interest, and rarely (never?) return more than $50 anyway.

So I am really annoyed that dh's camera return has not showed up yet on the regular credit card. IT will probably show up today, but the credit card cycle closed yesterday.

The return will obviously be credited to last month, right??? Credited to the time period in which it was charged?

Seems logical, but you never know with credit card companies.

I had a similar issue a few years ago where a large credit was put toward my account after the statement closing date. My credit was for several thousand dollars, so it made a big difference in the bill. The statement still had the higher amount, so I called the CC company to ask about it. The rep told me just to pay the new total after the credit had appeared. I was prepared to pay the higher amount if need be, but it wasn't necessary. I would call the CC company and ask. I was not charged interest even though I paid less than was shown on the statement.

    Thanks!

Better yet - will try to get that in writing. I will wait until the refund shows up - then clarify with them by e-mail to be sure.

Hmmmm.. I would pay it. It just seems safer that way.

Since I can't figure out how to email you or contact you I am posting here. I could write a book about how much I love your blog (I just found it about a week or so ago). I am in very much the same situation as you (except you are waaaay better at saving than me). Anyway, I am the breadwinner and the hubs stays home now. I Googled "surviving on one income" and somehow I found you and realize that we can THRIVE on one income. Just wanted to say thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! Vanessa
