Maybe just Temporary

So, our new super grocery whatever Target just opened.

Dh went to check it out. He said he noticed that the very few things he buys at Safeway were a better deal there. So, he is very happy! (Probably shops primarily at Bel Air, secondarily at Target (generic cereal, cat food, laundry detergent, etc.) and Safeway when he has to. Hehe). So, narrowing it back down to 2 stores, is good. Though I think it is good to go in all the stores once in a blue moon. Safeway used to have much better pricing on bulk things - just all phased out since the recession has hit. As such, it's easy to see that things change rapidly, and your best bet is to keep your options open.

(I still find it funny how many people assume Bel Air is some expensive store when it's like the cheapest store around, as far as we can tell. But yes, it is super nice too, as the name hints. Win-win).

This is probably temporary, but they don't have scales? I asked him to pick up some bananas, if the price wasn't bad. (He bought some last night and didn't know we had already devoured them - LOL. Gone in 12 hours?). Anyway, he said he grabbed a bunch of the biggest bananas he could find, because they were "19 cents per banana." We were talking about how odd that was, until I said, "They must not have scales at the checkout lines." I then googled it to see if that was standard. Not at all... So, lord knows when we will get scales. As long as they have big produce, could be deals to be found. The bananas were not a bad deal at all! Big Grin I suppose if things are picked over, and only small fruits and veggies left - not so good. This whole thing makes me curious about the rest of the pricing. Maybe they just found it easier to price the bananas that way - I am not sure. (I since found that banana price is common in Targets in California. Saw 19 cents per banana at some other ones. Maybe they have scales, after all).

when we had all the cyclones on our northern coast a few years back, the price of bananas went sky high. i just stopped buying them - but people were paying $AU1.80 per banana! for a SMALL one.

SuperTarget is my closet grocery store. They have scales for our produce there. I know that the prices on many things are more than some stores, but many others are less expensive all the time, just not for sales.
